As-built project from point cloud
Modelers: SATABIM group
Location: Germany
Year:2019
Area: 40000 m2
The Amberg as-built project from the point cloud is one of the interesting projects because This building is a historical place with mixed-used usage, for the renovation of this structure needs an accurate plan and sections but because of the archaism the project no documents exist.
For the best result, laser scanning the Amberg project started after the point cloud file was getting ready for Satabim to begin modeling the point cloud model in Revit.
The client’s wishes for this project were a very accurate plan and section with the minimum tolerance with the existing building. The as-built model in BIM standards is LOD 500.
We also create some windows families for this project to have more similarity in the as-built file.
Section box from as-built model in Revit
We first used Recap Autodesk to learn more about this project and used measuring in it to have accurate as-built modeling in Revit. After that, the RCP file inserts into Revit, and modeling the walls and floors started.
Modeling in Revit help to have the best result from a point cloud file and fast documentation.
As-built Project challenges
Since the project is an almost mega scale
Mit needs to dominate on-point cloud files to know how to start modeling this type of project in Revit to get the best result. And measuring from the point cloud file for the as-built takes most of the project time.
Also, because the project has a deadline, we had a meeting to disambiguate parts of the point clouds file that need to be clarified for modeling.
